Who is your OTP (One True Pairing)? If you’ve followed my blog long enough, you could probably guess that my OTP is…
Warner and Juliette from the Shatter Me trilogy by Tahereh Mafi! (Sorry, that was a mouthful.)
I know I’ve told my “Shatter Me story” several times, but I’m going to tell it again because this has been such a unique reading experience for me.
I enjoyed Shatter Me (the first book) enough to finish it, but not enough to grab the sequel. It was slightly predictable, and the ending sort of dragged. Also, I HATED Warner. So much so that I didn’t see the twist coming. And if you haven’t read the series yet and plan to, stop here, because there are spoilers below. 🙂
When I saw on Instagram that people were posting #TeamWarner, I was appalled to say the least. Because, seriously. Warner. WARNER! He did terrible things!!! He shot that guy in the head and then made Juliette kill the toddler and wanted to use her as a weapon to fight for the corrupt leader and ARGH!!!! What was wrong with everyone?
But, being the villain-lover I am, I HAD to read on to find out what all the fuss was about. So I purchased the other two books (Unravel Me & Ignite Me) AND the novella, (Destroy Me), and began reading. Wasn’t too impressed with the whole superhero thing at the beginning of Unravel Me. But as soon as Juliette saw Warner again, I stopped reading Unravel Me, switched to Destroy Me, and OMG EVERYTHING MADE SENSE!!!!
Because, people, things aren’t always what they seem. 😉
Destroy Me was AH-MAY-ZING. It explained everything in Warner’s POV.
After I finished Destroy Me, I went back to where I was in Unravel Me and continued reading. The kissing scenes were *perfect* to say the least. I slowly found myself swinging from Team Adam to Team Warner, and by the end of the book, I was drooling with all the other Warner fans out there.
And then Ignite Me happened. Juliette had become this strong, heroic character at the end of Unravel Me. Her growth was nothing less than perfect. And now it was Warner’s turn. And maybe that’s why Ignite Me was my favorite book out of the series. There’s something about a tortured man who wants to change for the better that’s. Just. So. Swoonworthy. Juliette was good to give him space, to give herself space so she could decide what she really wanted to do before making impulsive decisions. But, folks, when she finally decides she wants Warner, the heat seriously escalates. *raging fire emoticon*
This series isn’t a straight-up romance, yet it goes into so much depth with both characters arcs and the development of their relationship. Seriously. How does Tahereh do it? I feel like most books are either smothering romances or not romancy at all. Those that aren’t romancy usually don’t have great chemistry. I didn’t feel it with Peeta and Katniss, and I sort of felt it with Tris and Tobias. But Warner and Juliette is where it’s at.
Well done, Tahereh Mafi.
Well. Done.

So I don’t officially know if they will be together, by Elyiana and Ky from Sara Ella’s novel UNBLEMISHED! Ky is amazing!! They are definitely my OTP and can only hope that by book three I can shout it! 😉

See, I ship so many couples, there is no one true OTP for me. But if I had to choose one…augh. Seriously? Okay, here’s my current one:
Mercy + Adam from the Mercy Thompson series. I love how self-sacrificing he is and how their relationship keeps growing in awesome ways after the marriage. We’re three books into them being married, and they prove that marriage is the coolest part of coupledom.

I love that!! So many stories end at the “I love you”, but few can successfully show a romantic relationship after marriage. That’s where people truly grow and get to know each other! ❤

YES! Oh man, I understand why authors love to show the whole relationship from start to finish, but I get so tired of the same circling around, will-they-or-won’t-they dynamic. There’s so much more to explore after the commitment has been made.
